Why Leftists Are Elitist, And Delusional About It

You’d be hard-pressed to find a smarter blogger than Shannon Love at Chicago Boyz. Her latest column on elitism is a must-read.

Elitism isn’t defined by who benefits, elitism is defined by who decides.

The Tyranny Of The Ruling Class

The talk of the day thanks to Rush is a lengthy article at The American Spectator about Washington, D.C.’s ruling class which includes members of both parties and the MSM.

In a nutshell, this reality has become crystal clear lately thanks to the Tea Party. Career politicians in the Republican Party have shown their true colors thanks to the populist uprising. Former Utah Senator Bob Bennett has pretty much admitted he’s routing for Harry Reid to win this November, while former Senator Majority Leader Trent Lott, who’s now a lobbyist, said this when asked about the anti-establishment Republican candidates:

“We don’t need a lot of Jim DeMint disciples. As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them.”

What’s all the more frightening about this statement is who it comes from. Lott was once the leader of the Senate Republicans and for all intents and purposes, leader of the entire party for a time. Is it no wonder the Party has spent the last two-to-four years in the wilderness?

Brit Hume Creates Most Boring Controversy Ever

So Brit Hume was on Fox News Sunday and suggested that Tiger Woods should convert to Christianity in order to deal with his so-called shattered life.

You’ve heard all the opinions on the subject, now here’s the right-libertarian-agnostic position:

Who cares?

I’ll say it again…who cares?

This is what I’ve never understood about atheists and Hollywood-style Christian haters…who cares what they say? Hume is a Christian and part of their religion is a belief that everyone can be “saved” if they accept Jesus. Hume said it, it’s done, what’s the problem?

Others have said Tiger Woods should get therapy, or he should save his marriage, or do charity work, or eat an entire box of Chips Ahoy. All are reasonable suggestions with different degrees of success…just like the suggestion to find Jesus.

It’s just standard Christian bashing from the country’s elites and those that cringe knowing coins say “In God We Trust.”

Get over it.

Stanley Fish Goes Rogue

Classic:

When I walked into the Strand Bookstore in Manhattan last week, I headed straight for the bright young thing who wore an “Ask Me” button, and asked her to point me to the section of the store where I might find Sarah Palin’s memoir, “Going Rogue: An American Life.” She looked at me as if I had requested a copy of “Mein Kampf” signed in blood by the author, and directed me to the nearest Barnes and Noble, where, presumably, readers of dubious taste and sensibility could find what they wanted…

No More Smelly Peasants

Via the DC Examiner.

The Capitol Visitors Center, which opened this morning, may have tripled its original budget and fallen years behind schedule, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid found a silver lining for members of Congress: tourists won’t offend them with their B.O. anymore.
“My staff tells me not to say this, but I’m going to say it anyway,” said Reid in his remarks. “In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it’s true.
“But it’s no longer going to be true, noted Reid, thanks to the air conditioned, indoor space.
And that’s not all. “We have many bathrooms here, as you can see,” Reid continued. “Souvenirs are available.”
$621 million well spent.

Really says it all.

Wesley Snipes Gets Three Years For Tax Evasion

TigerHawk has a nice take on how his celebrity friends tried to convince a judge to let him off the hook:

Both Denzel Washington and Woody Harrelson are left-wing. Washington contributed the max to Barack Obama, and Harrelson is a lefty activist with no end of weird ideas. Washington, at least, supports a presidential candidate who has vowed to raise his own taxes and those of Wesley Snipes. It fascinates me, therefore, that these and other almost certainly “progressive” Hollywood types publicly argue for leniency for a rich man who evaded his taxes.

It’s a little thing called “elitism.”
